What is Aloe Vera?

Although Aloe is about 99% water, the remaining 1% is extremely powerful and it is thought this is because the close to 100 ingredients work extremely well together (synergistically). Aloe vera contains many minerals vital to the growth process and healthy function of all the body's systems. The ingredients in Aloe can be grouped into the following categories: Vitamins, Minerals, Sugars, Enzymes, Lignins, Amino Acids, Anthraquinones, Saponins, Fatty Acids, Salicylic Acid. Each of these categories could be discussed at length in their own right regarding individual molecules and ongoing studies into their remarkable effects. Combined together it's easy to see why Aloe Vera is such an effective healing plant.

Is ther any negative side efects?

If you are using oral corticosteroids, such as beclomethasone, methylprednisolone, or prednisone, it is important not to overuse or misuse Aloe vera juice. A potassium deficiency can develop, and you may experience toxic effects from the medication. Although it is removed, in practice Aloe vera juice may sometimes still contain tiny quantities of the laxative compound found in aloe latex. Should you begin to have cramps or diarrhea do not ingest any more of the juice. Allergies to aloe vera are very rare. Yet any food can be a potential allergen. Test a small amount on the inner arm to see if any reaction takes place. If no irritation on the skin is observed then it is generally tolerated. If ingestion causes diarrhea, then reduce the amount you ingest, increasing use slowly over several days until the desired amount is tolerated.

What does Aloe Vera do?

There are two ways of using Aloe Vera. You can use it internally to help stregnthen your immune system, to better your body's defenses, to cleanse and detoxify your intenstines. You can use it externally for fast moisturization and for healing wounds because it accelerates the renewall of skin cells. It is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Therapists, doctors and specialists recommend it for sunburn, sun allergies, skin irritation, acne, psoriasis, stomach problems, general fatigue, and much more!

Can my children drink it?

The answer is of course yes, but please read more! What about safety, is it safe and what is the dosage? In general there is no dosage because aloe vera is considered food just like any other food, but happen to have a specific set of nutrients that helps much more than any other juice available. There is apple juice, there is banana juice, orange juice and there is of course aloe vera juice. So, there is no dosage, but babies should take it by spoon, few tea spoons few times a day, for kids one year and older they can take like 20 – 30 mil per day and so on. Adults normally drink about 50ml to support their nutritional supply.

Im pregnant?

The American Pregnancy association has deemed aloe juice possibly unsafe during pregnancy due to increased risk of uterine contractions and drops in blood sugar. Any laxative product made with aloe, such as those that contain aloin and barbaloin, can lower electrolyte levels. There are claims that small doses are safe and beneficial, but there is not enough scientific evidence to justify its usage. Aloe can be passed through breast milk to the baby, and is considered too harsh on the babys digestive system. It can cause vomiting, constipation and diarrhea. Unless recommended by a physician, its best to avoid aloe juice during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
